Welcome to the First Annual
Klyde Warren Contemporary Jazz Festival

May 8-10, 2020 | Dallas, Texas

The Dallas Jazz Festival is an annual music festival held in Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, Texas the weekend of May 8-10. The Jazz Festival is inspired by festivals such as Austin City Limits and Levitation, attendees are invited to stand and enjoy the relaxing music or chill on their blanket while enjoying special food and wine by the chosen vendors.

Musician One

Dave Douglas

May 8, 5pm-10pm Dave Douglas is a prolific trumpeter, composer, educator and entrepreneur from New York City known for the stylistic breadth of his work and for keeping a diverse set of ensembles and projects active simultaneously. While Douglas is recognized as one of the progenitors of jazz, his music has also had a profound effect on hip hop, having been sampled often.

Musician Two

Wesley Halbert

May 9, Noon-5pm Wesley Halbert is a bassist, composer, bandleader whose passion for musical expression of all styles, and dedication to creating consistently innovative music ensembles have propelled a professional career of more than 50 years, and earned him top honors in his field including multiple Grammy awards and the title of NEA Jazz Master in 2017.

Musician Three

David Calhoun

May 9, 6pm-10pm Over the course of a stellar career that has spanned more than 30 years, saxophonist David Calhoun has become the preeminent alto saxophonist of his generation. Calhoun has always brought a vigorous yet melodic, and truly distinctive, alto saxophone sound to each musical situation. As a bandleader for the last two decades, he has also continually grown as a composer.

Musician Four

Sam Burkhardt

May 10, Noon-5pm Over the past three decades, Burkhardt has recorded and performed with the best in music, including Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga,and even Frank Sinatra. Hitting the road for as many as 300 days per year, the saxophonist has also performed with many of the finest symphonies and at some of the world’s most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl to the Sydney Opera House and the Real Teatro di San Carlo in Italy.
